Family Law Facilitator
The court now offers free services to people who need help with family law matters. The Family Law Facilitator is a licensed attorney available to provide direct services to families in need of family services.
Please make child care arrangements, so that you don’t have to bring children with you, childcare is not provided at the court.
If your primary language is not English, please bring an interpreter with you for workshops or individual appointments.
How Can The Facilitator Help?
- Provides general legal information.
- Can provide necessary court forms.
- Can provide assistance in completing court forms and/or voluntary declaration of paternity.
- Can prepare support schedules.
- Can provide referrals and lists of available resources.
- Can provide general information and educational materials regarding Family Court.
- Can prepare formal orders consistent with the Court’s announced order where neither party has an attorney.
- Can meet with both parties to mediate issues of child support, spousal support, and/or maintenance of health insurance.

Preparing for Court
- Custody/Visitation: Meet with the Family Court Services Mediator and try to reach an agreement.
- General Information: What to bring to court: A copy of any court documents relating to your case organized by date, Declaration, Witnesses, Evidence to present to the judge, extra copies for the judge and other party (very helpful).
- Financial Issues: Income and Expense Information (last three pay stubs, copy of last year’s taxes).

Glenn County conducts workshops in some cases. To attend these workshops, please call the courthouse at 530-934-6105 to make an appointment.
Facilitator Schedule
The Court Family Law Facilitator is available by appointment only.
The Family Law Facilitator is available to help both parents and all other parties who have questions about family law issues, including child support, spousal support, health insurance and the availability of community resources to help families. The Family Law Facilitator can help you in preparing your own forms and can give you general information.
The Family Law Facilitator cannot go with you to court. The Family Law Facilitator IS NOT YOUR LAWYER but is a neutral person who does not represent any parent or party. There is no attorney-client relationship between you and the Family Law Facilitator.
The Family Law Facilitator may provide information and services to the other party in your case.
Communication between you and the Family Law Facilitator is not confidential. You should consult with your own attorney if you want personalized advice or strategy, to have a confidential conversation, or to be represented by an attorney in court.
